*A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2015*

Matteo: Halloween was fun-filled this year!  During the day, we went to the children's museum so you could trick-or-treat in the galleries.  You ran around like a wild man, dragging your bag of candy up and down and all around.  Afterward, we went to take some pictures but you weren't really into it.  In these photos, there is a giant bouncy house just out of frame that wasn't open yet, so you were pretty distracted/tortured by its presence.  In the evening, we went trick-or-treating as a family.  Luckily, Lilah slept in her stroller, so Papa and I were able to take turns chaperoning you up driveways.  It made me completely happy to watch you run up to each house so excitedly, trying to remember (but usually forgetting) the little script we had rehearsed about what to say before and after someone gave you candy.  Seeing you adore this holiday made me adore it all over again, too, after years of just feeling pretty neutral about it.  After about 25 houses, you got pretty tired and kept asking to go home.  I actually ended up carrying you the last few blocks.  Handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters proved just as exciting.  You insisted on being the one to choose the candy for each person, which you did very slowly and thoughtfully.  I think you were pretty disappointed when we decided it was time to turn off the porch light.  The next morning you asked me why the trick-or-treaters were still sleeping and when they would be coming back.

Lilah: In an effort to color-coordinate you with your brother's "spooky punkin" costume, we dressed you as a carrot.  It was the cutest.  You pretty much slept through the Halloween festivities this year, but I can't wait to watch you try to keep up with Matteo next year!
