43/52

*A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013.*

Matteo: You are 18 months old now, and it's rare that you sit and play quietly on your own like this.  You much prefer to open the refrigerator and empty its contents onto the floor or climb onto the closest chair, balancing precariously and watching us to see how long you'll get away with it.  Sometimes you bring us books that you like to flip through, although they don't hold your attention for too long yet.  Your favorite is a book about babies, which you love to point out on every page.  You've also become an expert "doggie" spotter, emphatically pointing them out before impatiently flipping on to the next page, where more babies and doggies are waiting to be identified.  Your papa and I have assembled quite an impressive children's library for you, which reveals much more about our interests than yours at this point.  It's so exciting to think that a whole universe of stories is just waiting to be discovered, as soon as you are old enough to enjoy reading.
